Architecture

Grandstream UCM and endpoint architecture

Grandstream deployments succeed or fail on provisioning discipline: consistent templates, controlled firmware and an isolated management path.

  1. 01 · Connectivity

SIP trunk / UCM cloudAnalog / GSM gatewayInternet + backup link

Analog lines and gateways bridged where legacy equipment or fallback dialling is required.

  2. 02 · UCM appliance

Appliance sized to concurrent calls; storage planned for recording retention.

  3. 03 · Provisioning

Phones pull configuration from templates over an encrypted path — no manual per-handset setup.

  4. 04 · Network

Voice traffic separated and prioritised so data bursts do not degrade calls.

Default credentials removed, web access restricted, firmware kept on one approved version per model.

FAQ

Grandstream questions we are asked

Can Grandstream phones work with a non-Grandstream PBX?
Yes. The handsets are standard SIP devices and are regularly provisioned against Asterisk, FreePBX or 3CX; only the zero-config convenience features are UCM-specific.
Why do phones lose registration intermittently?
Usually NAT keep-alive intervals, DHCP lease or VLAN misconfiguration, or SIP ALG on the router. We check the network path before changing the PBX.
How is firmware managed across many handsets?
One approved firmware version per model, held in a central provisioning repository, rolled out in stages after testing rather than device-by-device.
Do you deploy the UCM for small offices?
Yes — an appliance can be the right answer where a small site wants on-premises hardware, low recurring cost and simple analog integration.
